  • Dedicated a lifetime to studying the structure of the body and its parts.
  • A teacher of anatomy.

ANATOMY
“Mortui vivos docent” - "The dead teach the living."

The word anatomy is of Greek origin (50BC) signifying dissection or cutting up. Historically, surgeons were called anatomical surgeons because they learnt their craft by dissecting dead bodies popularly called cadavers. That was the best way to learn. Not from books but from the fabric of the human body.
PRINCIPLES OF ANATOMY

  • A thorough understanding of the workings of the human body.
  • Sharing knowledge  on the structure of the human body in order to train others.
  • The study of anatomical tradition is like that of every other department of rational investigation and it can be traced back to the Greeks. From them is where methods, applications and nomenclature of the anatomical discipline are learnt.
